Today, a lot of people will agree with you that the American educational system is less than optimal. While the No Child Left Behind Act established sound principles, it did not receive enough funding and thus its principles have been rendered meaningless. Of course, there have also been widespread reports that states are “dumbing down” standardized testing so that their state’s scores can show the improvements that are necessary amongst their students in order to maintain or improve their status. Furthermore, parents of children who test in the “proficient” or “advanced” range often feel like their children are being left behind since they are not being challenged to do their best.
